Show Notes

A concept that has come up in multiple episodes thus far is “grooming,” or the deliberate effort to create a trusting relationship with a child and community with the ultimate intent of sexual abuse. It’s work that is manipulative and gradual, and often very subtle. And though it can be extremely challenging to identify the actions of a potential offender, it is helpful to understand commonalities between the choice methods of offenders.

KCSARC’s Family Services Specialists and Prevention Services Coordinator discuss five common behaviors that appear in the grooming of a child and community before a sexual abuse occurs.

CW: child sexual abuse, mental and emotional manipulation
